Fact 1:  Bats are not blind. Most use echo location as their primary sense, but all bats have a working pair of eyes.
Fact 2:  There is no chemical that indicates when someone has urinated in the swimming pool.
Fact 3: A Killer Whale is not a whale. Contrary to its name, it is in fact a member of the dolphin family.

Fact 4: There aren’t 9 planets in our solar system. There used to be 9 planets until Pluto was demoted in 2006, leaving a total of 8 planets in our solar system.
Fact 5: The North Star is not the brightest. It’s actually between the 45th and 49th brightest, depending on time of the year.
Fact 6: Hens do not require a Rooster to be able to lay eggs. They can lay eggs, but the eggs will be unfertilized.
Fact 7: Stars do not twinkle. The twinkling effect we see is caused by the light from the stars refracting as it passes through our atmosphere.
Face 8: The first American in space was not John Glen. May 5th 1961, Allan Shepherd became the first American to venture into space.
Fact 9: A Goldfish has memory of longer than 3 seconds. Studies have shown that the memory of a goldfish can last anything up to a few months.
Fact 10: A bird will not abandon or reject its eggs or offspring if it has been touched by humans.
Fact 11: 1 year in dog-years is not the equivalent to 7 human years. Generally speaking, 1 human year is the equivalent of 10-15 dog years. The second year is about the same as 3-8 dog years; every year after that is the same as 4-5 dog years. Of course this can vary depending on the size and breed of the dog
Fact 12: The Coriolis effect has no bearing on which way the water drains from your bathtub or your flushing toilet – and it doesn’t change depending on which hemisphere you’re in.
Fact 13: Humans have more than 5 senses. Depending on your definition, we have between 9 and 20, including our ability to sense balance, acceleration and pain.
Fact 14: Lightening can and does strike the same place more then once. The Empire State Building quashes that myth; it was struck around 100 times just last year.
Fact 15: Despite what you see in films, meteorites are not always hot when the hit the earth, some have been found covered in frost
Fact 16: The average person does not swallow 8 spiders per year while sleeping – thankfully!
Fact 17: Alcohol does not kill braincells
Fact 18: The core of our earth is not made up of molten lava – it is essentially a solid ball of mostly nickel and iron
